Courtney Crowder is an alumnus of North Carolina Central University earning degrees in English Literature and French. He holds a Masters degree from Duke University and has studied at Oxford University in Oxford, England. He is currently a Senior Account Executive for Capstrat, a Raleigh-based strategic consulting firm. Mr. Crowder also serves on several Boards of Directors including Downtown Housing Improvement Corporation, a non-profit housing development company, Artspace, a non-profit visual art center dedicated to presenting quality exhibitions and educational programs, as well as the North Carolina Center for Voter Education, which is a non-profit dedicated to improving the quality and responsiveness of North Carolina's election system. He is a Fellow with the American Council of Young Political Leaders and now serves as state Chairman of GenerationEngage.

Born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina, John D. White, II realized the importance of community service and leadership very early on. John was involved in his community as a member of youth organizations, such as Top Teens of America, and the Children's Choir of Providence Baptist Church, where he remains a member.
In College John began as a member of the Political Science Club, and went on to become Mr. Political Science, Vice-President and President. He was also President of Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honors Society, and Founder/President of NCCU's Collegiate 100 Black Men of America, which was the first Collegiate 100 in the state of North Carolina. He was appointed by the SGA President to serve as Student Government Director of Alumni Affairs, while also becoming active in the Association of Student Governments; Additionally, John was also a member of NCCU's NAACP, the Campus Beautification Committee, and the Student Health Services Advisory Committee.
On October 14, 2004, John co-organized and led a march of nearly 2000 NCCU students and community residents to inaugurate the early voting season for the 2004 Presidential Election. As a result, John and the co-organizers, the Civic Engagement Task Force (a subsidiary of the Political Science Club), were awarded the Weekly Independent's Citizen Award and the NCCU Trailblazer's Award. In addition, the Durham Committee awarded him and his fellow co-organizers the Political Involvement Award.
John graduated Cum Laude with a degree in and Political Science and a minor in English Literature. Since graduation, John has worked as an intern and Legislative Assistant for NC Representative Alma Adams of Guilford County and Director of Constituency Services for the NC Democratic Party. Currently, John serves as the Raleigh Community Director for Generation Engage.
