North Carolina Ballot Initiative
2008 marks another year where national
politics have descended on the lives of many, including citizens
of this great state. North Carolina, like many other states, has
a critical role in the upcoming presidential election. Along with
the role that our state will play in the national election, state
and local politics play an important role in the lives of many
North Carolinians. This is an area that Generation Engage will
focus on this election season.
GenerationEngage-Raleigh has designed the North Carolina Ballot
Initiative, a program that highlights statewide races. This initiative
is an opportunity for candidates running for a seat on the Council
of State, Court of Appeals and Associate Justice of the NC Supreme
Court races to identify who they are and the position that they
are running for. GenerationEngage, a nonpartisan nonprofit, extended
invitations to all candidates, from all the recognized parties
running in the aforementioned positions. Any candidate that does
not have footage declined the opportunity to participate in the
Initiative.
The interviews below are in the same order as they will appear
on the November 2008 Ballot. We urge you to use this as a tool
when deciding who to vote for in this year's state elections.
Please remember that the November ballot is divided into three
parts: 1) Federal, 2) State and municipal representation, 3) Judicial
Judges. Also, keep in mind that voting a "straight ticket" prohibits
you from voting for the Judicial candidates.
